We
are situated on the Rhinns of Islay between the pretty coastal villages
of Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte, a 10 minute walk from
Bruichladdich Distillery, home to some of the most interesting single
malt whiskies in the world, including Octomore & Black Art, and of
course Islay's only gin, The Botanist.
Just along from the distillery in Bruichladdich is the local shop &
post office for every day needs, as well as great coffee and cake and a
bit of a natter.
Port Charlotte is a 40 min walk or a 4 min drive and has three good
restaurants and the hotel has evenings of local music. The seafood
platter at The Lochindaal pub is unbelievable, but must be ordered 24
hours in advance!
Bowmore has a small, but comprehensive supermarket, the
Co-Op, sufficient for all needs during a stay and is a 15 min drive or
the bus will collect you from outside the house.
Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin distilleries near Port Ellen are about a 45 min drive.
Please leave 40 mins to get to the airport and ports to arrive no later than 30 mins before check-in.
