The Area - Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte & The Rhinns
We are situated on the Rhinns of Islay between the pretty coastal villages of Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte, a 10 minute walk from Bruichladdich Distillery, home to some of the most interesting single malt whiskies in the world, including Octomore & Black Art, and of course Islay's only gin, The Botanist.
Just along from the distillery in Bruichladdich is the local shop & post office for every day needs, as well as great coffee and cake and a bit of a natter.
Port Charlotte is a 40 min walk or a 4 min drive and has three good restaurants and the hotel has evenings of local music. The seafood platter at The Lochindaal pub is unbelievable, but must be ordered 24 hours in advance!
Bowmore has a small, but comprehensive supermarket, the Co-Op, sufficient for all needs during a stay and is a 15 min drive or the bus will collect you from outside the house.
Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin distilleries near Port Ellen are about a 45 min drive.
Please leave 40 mins to get to the airport and ports to arrive no later than 30 mins before check-in.
Please visit Bruichladdich Mini Market when you stay for a great coffee and chat with Aileen!
The downstairs of the house, garden, woodshed, play areas and parking are available for use by guests.
The following areas are secured and retained for the private use of the owners only: upstairs storage area, the garage, outhouses, some wardrobes and cupboards.
Access to the outhouses, polytunnel, shed may be required for garden maintenance during your stay. A gardener is currently working in the polytunnel and will be mowing the lawn occasionally.
We will deal with your enquiries and booking and can be contacted at any time during your stay. We might see you at changeover times.
We are happy to have larger groups of adults staying, but please note no parties, stag or hen dos are allowed and that 4 of the beds are in one room, it's certainly not ideal if all the beds are being used by adults.
Please remember that as this is our family home and not a typical 'holiday let'. If you are a large group on a whisky / golf tour then please discuss your requirements and we will try to accommodate you.
We have an honesty box system in the house, we have supplied basic and useful items which you will find in the kitchen cupboard. You'll find everything in here from cooking oil, ketchup, tea, herbal teas, coffee, washing liquid, biscuits, cereals, tins, shampoo, conditioner, herbs, spices etc... all we ask is that you pop a few coins in the pot so we can buy more for future guests. We also supply toilet rolls, washing liquid, kitchen paper, foil ... we want to make it as easy as possible for you!
